Extracted (2012)
![]() Tom, a young scientist who has invented a technique to enter into people's memories finds himself in a challenging & dangerous scenario when a potential investor demands a test run with a task to enter into the mind of Anthony, an addicted, murder convict to see whether he committed the murder. But it all ended up with a severe consequence....Tom's consciousness becomes trapped into the fractured memories of Anthony. A decent low budget sci-fi drama/thriller with an INCEPTION sort of idea but it didn't try to complicate or twist the plot much. >>: B

Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016)
I might have been the only one in the world that wanted a sequel to 2010's criminally underrated Alice in Wonderland, but whether you wanted it or not, here's the sequel. Alice Through the Looking Glass takes place a few years after the first movie after Alice has finished her voyage around the world. When she returns, an old friend from Underland leads Alice through a mirror which leads her back to Underland. She learns that her best friend, the Mad Hatter, has lost his "muchness." The Hatter found the first hat he ever made where his family was killed by the Jabberwocky, and he thinks that his family is still alive, but no one believes him, including Alice. The White Queen devises a plan for Alice to steal a device called the Chronosphere which will allow her to travel back in time and save the Hatter's family. All the characters come back from the first movie, although a lot of them are in smaller roles, but the real standout is newcomer Sacha Baron Cohen as Time. He and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen were surprisingly funny throughout the film and made for some memorable villains. Mia Wasikowska also had a reliably good performance as Alice. Through the Looking Glass doesn't have the thorough world-building that Alice in Wonderland had, but the plot is easier to follow in this one. Along with some breathtaking visuals, Alice Through the Looking Glass should please fans of first film with a fun and exciting return to Underland. 8/10

Before I Wake (2016)
![]() Another good one from Mike Flanagan. Liked the simplicity of the plot and that bit moving finale too. My only complain was Kate Bosworth playing the important role of the mother. She's like another Kristen Stewart, who as an actress only possess certain type of emotion/reaction all throughout a movie that eventually becomes annoying to watch, resulting a dull & to some extent, failed portrayal of a character that has significant part in the movie. Btw, in that old family picture with their deceased son, was that really Thomas Jane in that pic?!? I think that was another guy! ![]() >>: B+ Quote:

Project Almanac (2015)
6/10 A "time-travel fun and consequences" teen drama film, needlessly shot as found footage. Somewhat fun film, with decent production value, that seems to be missing scenes, leaving various plot lines confusing and unsatisfying. OK if your looking for something light, fast and teenie. Primer (2004) is much better time-travel film (that Almanac steals from) and much more complex. The Butterfly Effect (2004) is better still, much less complicated, better effects with quite a punch; though I seem to be in the minority in praise for the film.
