I think you made a good choice.
Admittedly, Ive never seen The Howling either, but The Ting is a movie that no collection should be without.

Gotta agree with most people here
The first Howling was good, but after that i thought the series went downhill Stick to John Carpenters The Thing, unless you have the choice to buy both

I havn't seen The Howling but I can tell you that John Carpenter's The Thing is an absolute classic of a film - John Carpenter is the man!

I agree with most people (especially getting them both), The Thing is a classic. I do like The Howling, it is good, but no classic (I did find the follow ups quite funny, but not as good as the first).

They are both good flicks, but for me the Thing is superior. The incredible sense of tension created in that film makes it a classic. The Howling is really good for what it is, but I'm not exactly a huge fan of werewolves. Interesting concept though, and the ending is always good for a laugh.
