While the film contains a satisfying amount of gore (most of it occurring in a montage, and the ending scenes...), some people might be thrown off at how animated the blood looks. I'm pretty sure some of the blood (if not all of it) was CGI. It's a very fake, fake, fake red. As if they were using a red fingerpaint. It doesn't look real, at all.

I think this had a LOT less to do with it being CGI and a big budget film than it did with being a Tim Burton film. The almost cartoon-like visuals really fit his style and to be honest, knowing his films, I didn't expect gritty realism. Anyway, I loved the movie personally, thought it was better than any previous incarnation of the story.
