why do people hate the ring and the grudge ? i havent seen anyone say why ... just that they do.

There doesn't have to be a reason why something is horrible. It just is.

i have a 4 year old who is coherent enough to give a rationale for the things he likes and dislikes.

i really should watch it... the ads i saw - well, the CGI Hulk didnt look great ..

dude where have you heard diverse opinions oppinions about the hulk, most people thought that it sucked ass( which it did). and as for the cgi it was absolutly fucking terrible i could do better cgi on my computer.

as for dark water im not going to see in theaters, hell im not even gonna rent it when it comes out( ill wait about 5 weeks and get it for free on MVP). it just looks really stupid to me, im not a big fan of ghost movies( hell im not a fan at all, i fucking hate them).

the grudge and ring movies werent really that good in my own oppinion either, the main reason i didnt like them is there was no fear factor. there wasnt any real scary parts or tension( which ive noticed alot latley in jap remakes). i didnt like the jap versions either for the same reason, i dont really like any jap ghost films. the all have the same features( and basiclty the same plot, with only a few minor differences)

There wasn't any real scary parts or tension? Look, I'll say this; The Grudge wasn't good because it was too disjointed (like the original) and there was barely any dialogue or character development. But to say that it (and The Ring) weren't scary or tense at points is just a ridiculous statement. I thought The Ring remake was incredible.

i NEVER jump at movies - not since i was little - and i've seen hundreds of horror movies.

the Grudge made me jump about 3 times and i knew what was coming each time because i saw the origional.

the 'out of sequence' flow didnt bother me - i had no trouble following it.

for people who couldnt follow the Grudge (or Ju-on) i cant wait to see what they think of the sequel !

Two things...

The first statement, even people who hadn't seen the original could see things coming, because the music gave it all away. Build-up, build-up, build-up... silence... SCARE!

The 'out-of-sequence', gotta tell ya... It was confusing for me. But not as confusing as Ju-On (probably cuz there were more folks in Ju-On). The thing is, did The Grudge really NEED the out-of-sequence narrative?

see ju-on 2 .. it'll make your head fall off then.

re scares - the music always gives it away - but there was always a well timed payoff .. and a lot of genuinely creepy moments ..
i'm not very easy to impress ...

The Eye had a couple of really creepy moments too ...

When that girl leaps at her shouting, "Get out of my chair!"

Scared the poo right outta my pants, into the toilet... toilet flushed itself.
