Andrew Kuehn, the producer and director of the well known 80's horror movie documentary, "Terror in the Aisles", died last week (01/29), according to published reports. He was 66 years old and living in Laguna Beach, California, when he lost his battle with cancer.
"Terror in the Aisles", originally released in 1984, is one of those horror films that always shows up on late night TV and cable over the years. It features clips from 75 horror movies, or at least movies that the director thought represented the genre at the time. There has always been some controversy over the selection of films, but with the amount of material presented, there was bound to be something in the mix to interest most horror fans.
Kuehn wasn't just a horror film maker - his obituaries list his work and innovation on film trailers as his biggest accomplishment. He did the trailers for numerous huge movies including "Indiana Jones", "ET", "Jaws", "Aliens", and "Star Wars".
One of his most famous trailer lines was the tagline from "Jaws 2", "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water."
