The Frankenstein monster will walk again, this time on cable TV, and he will come back to life as a good guy crime fighter. The USA Network has ordered production of a pilot episode for a contemporary drama series based on the Mary Shelley horror classic, executives at Vivendi Universal, which owns the cable channel, said on Wednesday.
Best-selling author Dean Koontz ("Odd Thomas," "Sole Survivor") has been tapped to write and produce the six-episode limited series, which is expected to go into production in April and debut as early as the fourth quarter of this year, said Jeff Wachtel, USA's executive vice president of original programming. Marcus Nispel, the filmmaker behind the recent remake of the cult horror classic "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," will direct the pilot.
