The man who brought us such plays and movies as "In The Company of Men," "The Mercy Seat," and "Your Friends and Neighbors" may be taking a step into horror. Neil LaBute is reworking the script to a 1970s British horror movie, "Wicker Man," as a vehicle for Nicolas Cage.
The original 1973 "The Wicker Man" starred Christopher Lee ("Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "Star Wars" Episodes 2 & 3, and with 200+ other movies). The plot revolves the disappearance of a young girl in a strange, secretive community. A police sergeant investigating the disappearance is soon suspects cannibalistic rituals, but the truth is even more shocking.
No word on when the movie will reach theaters, nor whether Nick Cage is interested in the project.
