"The Omen" screenwriter David Seltzer is partnering with NBC to produce a six-to-eight-hour miniseries based on events in the biblical book of Revelations. The story will focus on two characters - a physicist and a nun - who are fighting to stave off Armageddon. The plot could include an Antichrist character, insiders say.
"What the Book of Revelation predicted is at hand," Seltzer said. "Nuclear brinkmanship, worldwide terrorism, collapsing economies and environmental atrocities make it clear that the critical mass of injury to this planet is sufficient to bring down the wrath of God and put the biblical prophecies into play. What is not written in the Bible is whether man can do anything about it. This is where our story begins."
Meanwhile, ABC is readying its thriller/horror miniseries - Stephen King's "Kingdom Hospital" - for next winter's schedule.
