Japanese horror director Hideo Nakata has received an offer from a U.S.-based production company.
Cheyenne Enterprises, Arnold Rifkin's and Bruce Willis' film entity, are courting Nakata's directorial involvement in "True Believers". The project would be Nakata's first movie based on an English language script. Mark Wahlberg may be tapped for the lead role.
Nakata's movies often focus on the paranormal, from the murderous video tape in "Ringu" to the ghostly child of "Dark Water". His slick, dark style has won him fans and acclaim both inside and outside Japan. His "Ringu" has already been remade in the States as "The Ring", and remakes of two other Nakata films - "Dark Waters" and "Chaos" are in production.
No word yet whether Nakata has agreed to Cheyenne's offer. We'll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
