Looking for a signed, first-edition copy of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein"? How about Bela Lugosi's Count Dracula ring and cape, or a first edition of Bram Stoker's "Dracula" signed not only by the author but also Bela Lugosi? These horror history treasures are just a few of the goodies to hit the auction block this April.
Science fiction writer, editor, and literary agent Forrest J. Ackerman passed away last December at the age of 92. In addition to the term "sci-fi" - a phrase he is widely regarded as having created - he also left behind tens of thousands of pieces of horror and science fiction memorabilia. Before his death, Ackerman donated and sold a few pieces. The remaining collection is expected to bring in $500,000, which his estate stipulates must be split among Ackerman's friends.
