Michael Dougherty’s “TRICK ‘r TREAT”  Opening Night Film at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival on October 10th!

Rachel Belofsky, founder of the annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival, is pleased to announce that Michael Dougherty’s TRICK ‘r TREAT  will be the Opening Night film at Screamfest in the prestigious Grauman’s Theatre on October 10th. A Q&A with Michael Dougherty will follow the screening.  TRICK ‘r TREAT was written and directed by Michael Dougherty and produced by Bryan Singer, Alex Garcia and Dan Harris. This will be Michael Dougherty’s return to Screamfest as he won Best Animated Short in 2003 for his short DEADTIME STORIES.  The 8^th annual festival will be held October 10^th-19^th at the Mann Chinese Theaters in Hollywood, California. This will be the first public showing of the film.

TRICK ‘r TREAT:  It is said that Halloween is the night when the dead rise to walk among us and other unspeakable things roam free. The rituals of All Hallows Eve were devised to protect us from their evil, and one small town is about to be taught a terrifying lesson that some traditions are best not forgotten. Nothing is what it seems when a young couple learns the dangers of blowing out a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight; four beautiful women cross paths with a costumed stalker; a group of pranksters discovers the horrifying truth buried in a local legend; and a cantankerous hermit is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick. Costumes and candy, ghouls and goblins, monsters and mayhem... the tricks and treats of Halloween turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety-- human and otherwise --try to survive the scariest night of the year.  The film stars Anna Paquin, Dylan Baker, Leslie Bibb, Tahmoh Penikett, and Brian Cox.
