October XX, 2007 – Los Angeles - After Dark Films’ CEO Courtney Solomon announced the top 8 finalists in the 2007 Miss Horrorfest Competition, the official spokesperson for After Dark Horrorfest - 2007, today. The women competing for horror’s most illustrious crown will be Melissa Jones, Lorrisa Julianus, Erin Nixon Kerrigan, Shannon Lark, sisters Molly and Bonnie Morgan, Jeanette Roberts and Rainey Welch. The contestants will live in a house and compete in a series of chilling competitions, all of which will be broadcast on YouTube over the next week, giving viewers the chance to vote for the next Queen of Scream. Last year the Miss Horrorfest contest proved to be the most successful contest in YouTube history. Over the last month, contestants have submitted 90-second videos on YouTube and participated in live auditions across the country in the hopes of winning $50,000 and the coveted title of Miss Horrorfest 2007. YouTube users have the ability to influence the selection of Miss Horrorfest by viewing the entries and ranking them with stars leading up to the Miss Horrorfest crowning, which will take place live on national television in New York City.
Along with its partners AMC, Regal and Cinemark, After Dark Horrorfest -2007 runs over the course of one week (2 weekends) on over 300 screens across the United States from November 9 – 18th, making it the largest film festival in the world. This unique festival is the first of its kind, premiering “8 Films to Die For,” celebrating the horror genre by showcasing films that run the spectrum of horror from thrillers to gore to the supernatural. Earlier this year, After Dark‘s COO Laura Ivey and EVP of Creative Affairs and Acquisitions Stephanie Caleb locked The Deaths of Ian Stone, Frontiers, Nightmare Man and Unearthed to screen as part of this year’s festival.
