If you're a fan of indie horror, dark comedy, or high-action sci-fi - and you live in Boston - you may want to check out the First Annual Boston Fantastic Film Festival. Held at the Brattle Theater from October 17-23, the festival features highly-acclaimed independent films along with some old school classics.
In the "old school" category, the festival will include an advance screening of the upcoming "Alien: The Director's Cut". A new 35 mm print of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre will show on the night of the remake's opening, and horror expert Steven Schneider will introduce a screening of Robert Wise's 1963 classic "The Haunting".
Also featured is the Japanese dark comedy "2LDK" - about two female friends who end up fighting to the death over a movie role. "In My Skin" - Marina de Van's cutting film on, well, cutting and self-mutilation - will also show. The American-made "Robot Stories", Aussie "Visitors" and the Japanese "Returner" round out the list.
