Q: Could you each talk about what’s special in relation to your character?
Toby: Special? I guess Reid is more of the rebel, he doesn’t think about his actions as much. He likes to play with his powers and stuff.
Toby: Between me and Caleb especially, since we don’t see eye to eye.
Chace: I like
Q: Are you guys full-fledged warlocks in the movie?
Toby: Just about. You turn 18 and you ascend, you get your full powers. We’re 17, 16. At 13 you get a taste of it, you don’t really get too much or else you’ll abuse it. When you turn 18 and use your powers, you age more and it becomes addictive. And our parents are all fucked up on it.
Q: Someone said this is like The Craft for dudes.
Chace: Well, the special effects will be awesome. Way different from The Craft.
Q: Is there a lot of action?
Toby: There’s some conflict and suspicion between us over the use of power, because everyone knows it’s addictive.
Q: You each have your own unique ability in the movie?
Toby: We have the same, but we have different styles of use.
Q: If power corrupts, what’s the worst thing you do?
Toby: Jealousy, for my character.
Q: So you’re not all aligned against one common foe?
Q: Do you all have a favorite scene?
Toby: The cliff scene’s really fun, where we jump off.
Chace: My favorite scene… we’re in a bar, basically playing pool and having a good time, and we end up gambling and using our powers for fun.
Toby: I like when we all use what we have, show what we’re made of.
Q:
Q: Any challenges working with blue screen?
Q: What about working with your director, Renny Harlin?
Toby: Awesome. Everyone knows exactly what’s going on the moment you get there, you’re never waiting around. He’ll let you try things too, play around with it.
Toby: And all the sets are great, to really put you in the moment.
Chace: And the friendship we have makes it natural to work with each other.
Q: When you use your powers do you all have specific gestures?
Toby: Our eyes go completely jet black, but we all did develop our styles. I’d say mine’s more… sloppy. They explain to you so well how it’ll work in the scene that you literally don’t feel stupid doing it.
Q: How did you come to be involved in the production?
Toby: Mindy Marin! Make sure you get that! I think a lot of us went out for Eragon… I don’t think I got that one… [laughs] but Mindy brought me back for this. Originally went for a different character and they offered me this one. And I said… maybe. [laughs]
Q: You guys had training for this?
Chace: Just working on the [wire] rig. Once you get the hang of it, it’s fun.
