"Exorcist" fansite Captain Howdy has confirmed that "Exorcist: The Beginning" will not be ready by the February 6 release date.
Though the actual shooting of the movie went well, the studio was unhappy with director Paul Schrader's cut of the movie. According to FilmForce, Schrader felt Morgan Creek wanted "turning heads and projectile vomit" while Schrader wanted the film to lean more toward psychological horror. Schrader went so far as to accuse the studio of not reading his script beforehand. The disagreement led to Schrader's dismissal from the movie. Portions of the movie are scheduled to be re-shot by an as yet unnamed director starting in mid-November in Morocco.
The film is set as a prequel to the classic "The Exorcist", tracing the story of Father Merrin back to his first encounter with the devil in post-WWII Africa.
