2005 Bram Stoker Awards Coverage
The 2005 Bram Stoker Awards honoring horror-related writing published or released in the year prior were presented by The Horror Writers Association June 25 in Burbank, CA. Past winners have included the likes of Stephen King, Peter Straub, and David Morrell. The first president of the association was none other than Dean R. Koontz, and the current one is the celebrated novelist Joseph Nassise.
Throughout the weekend, there were a number of informative workshops held, and several readings, one of the most popular and well-attended was Chuck Palahniuk reading from his newest novel, Haunted. Toastmaster David Morrell gave a two-hour workshop on the secrets of successful writing, and between the panels and the awards presentation, there was a mass book signing held at the Dark Delicacies Bookstore.
Our own Staci Layne Wilson was on hand at the bookstore and the awards ceremony - here are the videos & all the frightening details:
- Joseph Nassise, HWA president and author of Riverwatch.
- Jace Anderson and Adam Gierasch, screenwriters of The Toolbox Murders and Mortuary.
- Peter Atkins, screenwriter of the Hellraiser sequels and The Wishmaster.
- David Morrell, author of First Blood and Creepers.
- John Skipp, co-author of The Scream and author of Stupography (Note: Don’t mind Staci’s arcane sense of humor, with the Sasheen Little Feather joke…)
- Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club, Haunted, and Guts. (Note: Guts, like the theatrical release of The Exorcist, is said to have made several people vomit or/and faint!)

- Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club, Haunted, and Guts (continued from Pt. 1)
- Awards ceremony, including Harlan Ellison accepting Michael Moorcockfs Lifetime Achievement Award.
- Interview with Clive Barker, author of Arabat, and director of Hellraiser and Master of Illusions.
