Davis Films has optioned "Silent Hill", the best-selling video game series from Konami, for big-screen production. Directed by Helmer Christophe Gans ("Brotherhood of the Wolf"), the movie will be a collaboration between Davis Films and gamemaker Konami.

Konami's three mature-rated "Silent Hill" video games have combined sold over 4 million copies. "Silent" will be the third game-to-movie project for Konami, following "Resident Evil" and the upcoming "Resident Evil: Apocalypse".

The three "Silent Hill" games are known for their densely foggy and darkly evil landscapes. In the first game, the player becomes Harry Mason, an anxious father searching for his daughter who vanished just outside a desolate town. In "Silent Hill 2", the protagonist is James Sunderland - a man who is thrust into an odyssey of terror after receiving a letter from his long-dead wife. The third game puts the player in the role of teenage Heather as she explores the grim evil of the "Hill".

Which storyline - or storylines - the movie will follow is not yet known, but rest assured that Konami will have a hand in the script, the design of the characters, and aid in the film's soundtrack.

Yeah, I think Silent Hill 2 would make a good movie. I really hope that they go through with the whole series.

The only mistake in making mario brothers and street fighter movies was making a mario brothers and street fighter movie. If the initial concept is good, the movie has a chance. Did a live-action mario brothers movie ever have a hope in hell? of course not. it is a FUCKING RETARDED concept to begin with. Never cared for street fighter, but i imagine there was something that could have been done with it. But then again, they did put Van Damme in as their lead, so that was bad move number 1.

which one?
I think that Silent Hill 2 would transfer the best onto the movie screen. And if it does, they just gotta use those slimy, straitjacket monsters.
