Rachel Belofsky, president and founder of Screamfest Horror Film Festival and partner Stan Winston have announced the Call For Entries for the 4th Annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival and Screenplay Competition and a first look deal for the winning screenplay. Screamfest Horror Film Festival takes place Oct. 15th - 24th 2004 at Universal CityWalk Loews Theatres, Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

Screamfest celebrates independent filmmakers and writers within the horror, science fiction and fantasy genres. Judged on all aspects of filmmaking by a panel of judges comprised of industry professionals, filmmakers compete in several categories including, Best Feature, Directing, Editing, Special Effects, Musical Score and additional special categories for Best Animation, Best Short, and Best Documentary, and Best Student Film.

Writers competing for Best Screenplay will receive a $1,000 cash prize, software from Movie Magic and a first look production deal with Stan Winston Productions together with Candy Heart Productions. A film director from this year's and previous year's Screamfest talent base will be selected to direct the winning screenplay. Jeff Katz of New Line Cinema, Multiple Academy Award-winning Special Effects master Stan Winston and Michael Grady of Dimension Films are set to judge the film competition.

The 2004 screenplay judges are Michael Grady of Dimension Films, Director/Producer Sean S. Cunningham (Friday The 13th, Freddy VS. Jason), David Kopple - motion picture literary agent at the Gersh Agency and Director/Producer, Multiple Academy Award-winning special effects master Stan Winston.

The deadline for entry in this year's festival is July 15, 2004 and late deadline is August 15, 2004. Screamfest accepts all films completed after January 1, 2001.

Founded in 2001 by producer Rachel Belofsky, Screamfest is an annual internationally recognized and participated in genre festival showcasing independent filmmakers and screenwriters from around the globe. Screamfest will be held in Los Angeles from October 15th to October 24th, 2004 at Loews Universal Studios Cinemas at Universal CityWalk.
