Sarah Michelle Gellar Holds a "Grudge"

Sarah Michelle Gellar will star in "The Grudge," the English-language remake of the Japanese horror thriller "Ju-On." The movie is produced by Ghost House Pictures, a genre division of Senator International launched with Sam Raimi. "Ju-On" tells the story of a haunted house and how residents living in it are eventually affected. The whole story is presented in a series of loosely connected segments.

Shooting will begin at Tokyo's Toho Studios in late January. "The Grudge" will be directed by Takashi Shimizu, the man  wrote and directed the original. Producer Taka Ichise ("Ringu"), who also worked on the original, will team with Raimi and partner Rob Tapert to produce. The screenplay for the new film will be adapted by Stephen Susco, combining elements from the original "Ju-On" and its three sequels.
