Indian Horror Movie Stars Named "Actor & Actress of the Decade"
Ajay Devgan and Urmila Matondkar, stars of the Hindi horror film "Bhoot", have been dubbed Actor and Actress of the Decade in the Indo-American Society's Young Achiever Awards on Saturday.
"Bhoot" is the second horror film from Ram Gopal Varma, a director/producer from the South Indian city Hyderabad. "I did a supernatural thriller, 'Raat', earlier. It failed as an idea. And I've learnt from the mistakes in 'Raat'. 'Bhoot' is akin to 'Raat' only to the extent that it deals with a paranormal phenomenon. I wanted to make a horror film for a long time. With 'Raat' I made a horrifying horror film. I got carried away with technique -- too many gimmicks without a linear narration. I owed the audience and myself another horror film. The visual possibilities in a horror film are immense. The kind of expressions I could get out of actors in a horror film enthused me," Varma told Yahoo.
The movie revolves around a stockbroker and his wife who move into an apartment with an eerie past. The stockbroker refuses to believe in superstition, but the wife finds herself gradually pulled into the ghostly presence of the young woman haunting their home.
