Silver Plans 3-D "Wax"
Joel Silver's Dark Castle production company has pumped out a horror movie on Halloween for three of the last four years - "Ghost Ship" (2002), "13 Ghosts" (2001), and "House on Haunted Hill" (1999). Dark Castle was created to in part as to remake classic schlock old horror movies, like those made by William Castle, like "13 Ghosts" (1960) and "House on Haunted Hill" (1959).
This year, they bring us "Gothika" in November - a few weeks late for Halloween, and more of a thriller than a horror. But Silver and partner/producer/director Robert Zemeckis have something in the works for a future Halloween: a remake of the Vincent Price classic "House of Wax". Price stars as a Professor who's left the task of rebuilding his wax museum after a fire, and decides to restore his collection using human corpses coated with wax.
Warner Bros.' "House of Wax" was the first feature film by a major studio to be released in 3-D. Silver wants to do his remake in 3-D, but his idea will prevail is up in the air. In an interview with Sci-Fi Wire, Silver confirmed the "House of Wax" remake, then added, "I want to do it 3-D. I think it might be fun. I mean, that's what I'm thinking about now. But that's my plan. I don't know. It depends."
