Spike Brings Sendak's "Wild Things" To Life
Jonze will direct a live-action version of the Maurice Sendak classic "Where The Wild Things Are".
There aren't many things that have intrigued young kids more than the story in the monsters in Maurice Sendak's "Where The Wild Things Are". It looks like Universal is bringing to life these childish evil dreams with a full-length movie of the children's book. Spike Jonze ("Adaptation") has been chosen to direct the live-action movie, which was originally conceived as a CGI film until Jonze convinced the studio to try his live-action approach.
The 1963 children's classic tells the story of Max, a naughty boy sent to bed without his supper. Locked in his room, he invents a universe populated marvelous monsters. No word yet as to the cast.

*in tone of mock severity* For shame! This book has been listed as challenged by the American Library Association, how dare it become a movie!! Actually I think this is one of the better book-to-movie ideas I've heard of lately. Godspeed to the producers/directors/etc.! | |
