What could possibly shock the director of Shocker and The Serpent and The Rainbow? When Wes Craven found out how Iams pet food company was using dogs and cats in laboratory experiments, the horror director was himself horrified.

"There is simply no reason for Iams to be using cats and dogs in laboratory studies-they are unnecessary and not required by law. These are companion animals who do not belong in barren, lonely laboratories. If people knew what went on in Iams contract laboratories, they'd be shocked," Craven said in a statement.

In an undercover investigation, PETA videotaped abuse of laboratory animals, including 27 dogs deliberately killed, dogs with vocal cords removed so they couldn't bark, and a live kitten washed down a drain. In June, PETA filed a complaint with the FTC on the grounds that Iams made allegedly false claims on its website regarding the care of animals in its laboratory.

Wes Craven is the man, now if he would stop going after these guys and finish his movies, I'd be very happy. For record, rumour has it he's working on a movie adaptation of his novel "The Foutain Society" and movie adaption of the video game "American McGee's Alice" which is a dark and twisted alice in wonderland.
