Los Angeles, CA (February 7, 2008) — After Dark Films has acquired the North American rights to distribute the horror film Frontier(s), it was announced today by After Dark Films CEO Courtney Solomon.  Written and directed by Xavier Gens (Hitman), the film will be released first theatrically on May 9th, in select markets, and then on DVD on May 13th by Lionsgate, through After Dark’s output deal with the studio.  After Dark Films formulated the film’s innovative plan for release in keeping with the expressed wishes of horror fans to have the chance to see the mesmerizing film theatrically -- where it’s beauty lends itself to the big screen -- before releasing it to DVD, when horror aficionados everywhere will have the opportunity to see the film they have eagerly anticipated ever since word leaked out about its acquisition.  This release plan allows After Dark to provide movie lovers, especially horror fans, with what they deserve: the absolutely best viewing experience in whichever format they prefer, without having to wait.

Samuel Le Bihan (Brotherhood of the Wolf) stars in this horror film set in France and revolves around Yasmine, her ex-boyfriend and his two friends who are entrenched in the Paris riots, and have stolen a large sum of money before they head for the Danish border.  On their way, they check into a motel where things appear to be too good to be true.  They find that looks are deceiving as this motel rapidly turns into a house of horrors run by a Neo-Nazi family.   The film’s additional cast includes Maud Forget, Estelle Lefébure, Patrick Ligardes, David Saracino, Karina Testa and Aurelien Wiik.

“Xavier created a film that’s challenging and provocative, with an emotional impact that horror films don’t always deliver,” stated Solomon.  “Given this, we wanted to offer audiences the chance to see it, both communally on a large screen in the theater as well as in the comfort of their homes.  We also wanted to present the film the way Xavier imagined it: uncut, unedited, and unaltered in any way to comply with a specific rating. This is a prime example of the type of film we will continue to deliver – a great horror flick that delves far deeper than most films of this genre.”

Gens recently directed Hitman, starring Timothy Olyphant and Dougray Scott.  He is repped by Endeavor.
