The 14th annual H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival shall prove to be our most exciting festival yet. This year we have some great films lined up along with thought provoking discussion panels and compelling live events.
Legendary horror artist Bernie Wrightson has been scaring horror fans for over thirty years, this year we honor him with a Howie Award for lifelong achievement in visualizing the unknowable horrors of the cosmos. He is best known for co-creating the comic character Swamp Thing anddefinitively illustrating Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein". He has also made his mark on the film industry doing creature design for such films as: Ghost Busters, Galaxy Quest, Spiderman and more. Director John Carpenter (The Thing, At the Mountains of Madness, Halloween, Christine and so much more), our second Howie recipient this year, will be making an appearance via a special recorded message.
Prolific composer Richard Band will also be an honored guest this year. His scoring credits include:Ghoulies, Castle Freak, The Resurrected, The Pit & The Pendulum, Re-Animator, Ghost Warrior and more.
Other notable guest appearances are: author/scholar S.T. Joshi, author/editor Robert M. Price, author Stanley C. Sargent, comic book writer Hans Rodinoff, actors/comediansJoseph Scrimshaw and Tim Uren.
Our discussion panels will include: Creating Atmosphere with Music,Drawing on the HorrorandIs Astoria the real Innsmouth? We will also have live perfomances and readings by Mythos Authors and Scholars. The Annual "Howie" Awards will be on Saturday night and theAnnual "Brown Jenkin" Filmmaker Awards will be held on Sunday.
