Jeff Vintar, a screenwriter on the upcoming movie version of Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot", has been hired to write two separate sci-fi themed movie scripts.

New Line Cinema will have Vintar pen a screenplay based on DC Comics' post-apocalyptic "Y: The Last Man". A mysterious plague has wiped out every male on earth, except one. Though being the only man alive may be fantasy for some, the reality is much more dangerous.

For Fox, Vintar has assumed the monstrous task of bring Asimov's "Foundation" trilogy to the big screen. The series tells of a scientist who mathematically predicts a grim future for humanity. He devises a plan to save human knowledge, but not everyone wants his plan to succeed. The "trilogy" is actually seven novels in the classic Trilogy written by Asimov himself, plus three more authorized by Asimov's estate but by other science fiction authors. Vintar plans to focus on the first three novels of the trilogy, and condense it down into one long film, or two short ones a la "Kill Bill".
