Press Release:

About six years ago while working on the project from Hell, author Dann Gershon started to write “Camp Creepy Time” as a diversion. It started with a paragraph, then another and, before he knew it, it was a full blown book. It was based --- very loosely --- on two weeks he spent at a summer camp/dump in the middle of the Mojave Desert. It sat in his computer and was forgotten. His sister, actress/musician, Gina Gershon, didn't forget and nagged him for two years to do something with the story. He finally agreed, but under one condition --- she had to rewrite the story alongside her brother.

Gina was shooting a television show and then a film and then working on her album, so most of their communication was via e-mail or phone. As a brother and sister writing team this may be the best way to work. It's hard to kill one another when you're not in the same location. They plan to employ the same tried and true technique to finish the sequel.

DreamWorks Films has already acquired the screen rights and will co-produce the film with Nickelodeon Films. Writer Richard LaGravenese is set to adapt the book for the screen.

About Dann Gershon

Dann Gershon is a dynamic and witty voice in young adult fiction. The Los Angeles native always planned to become a writer but destiny threw him a curve ball and he began a career in the apparel business in New York. Soon thereafter, Gershon launched a successful trading company in Hong Kong, along with a NY-based design and sales company. After selling his business, Gershon teamed up with Partnership for a Drug-Free America (PDFA) to help them reach out to children between the ages of 7-10. It was through this relationship Gershon wrote his first book, Hangin' with the Hombeez, a children's book series with a public service announcement. In addition to distributing over 250,000 books to at-risk children, Gershon, through his company, organized hundreds of events nationwide. The 30 second spot he and his team created for PDFA is still playing today and is one of the most successful public service announcements in the history of the Partnership.
