The Devil's Den (DVD)
But what about his living room?

The Devil's Den has some B-name actors in it — Kelly Hu, Ken Foree, and Devin Sawa — but this dreadful Dusk Till Dawn wannabe is not worth seeing even for their biggest fans. The director, Jeff Burr (Straight Into Darkness), wouldn't even allow his real name to be used in the credits, so you can take that for what it's worth. (However, his title appears on the slate in the behind-the-scenes footage. )

If you're really, really curious — or just really, really desperate for a new horror DVD — read on.

Quinn (Sawa) and his BFF Nick (Steven Schub) are on their way back from Mexico with a hoard of Spanish Fly, which they plan on selling in the States. In order to test its veracity, the would-be pushers make a pit-stop at a gentlemen's club called The Devil's Den in order to test the drug on some unsuspecting strippers. But it's the young men who are unsuspecting… unsuspecting that these are no ladies, they're DEMONS!

Meanwhile, we meet a leather-clad assassin (Hu), a monster hunter (Foree), a supernatural samurai (Ken Ohara), and of course, Satan himself. As these entities converge, the club becomes a deadly trap from which only a few will escape. Fake blood flows freely, fog machines roll, and gooey makeup work gets its close-up.

While the movie is reasonably competent in technical terms and there is at least some effort made towards a campy feel, The Devil's Den is insufferably dull and winds up feeling longer than a vampire's everlasting life.

The DVD has lots of additional release material, including a behind-the-scenes featurette (mutual praise, all around), a blooper reel (looks like tensions were high on the set), and a chilly commentary from producers Mitch Gould and John Duffy, and composer Jon Lee (the yak track lacks much yak — it's basically long silences punctuated by generic "what it was like making The Devil's Den" comments).
