This weekend, The Black Dahlia movie opens. This isn't just another horror movie, though: it's got film fans in - and outside of - the horror genre talking. The movie is directed by the legendary Brian De Palma (Carrie, Scarface, etc.) and the cast is a who's who of Hollywood hipsters - Scarlett Johansson, Josh Hartnett, Hilary Swank, Rachel Miner, Rose McGowan, and on and on. If all of that name dropping doesn't get you excited, the based-on-a-novel which is based-on-a-true-life-murder story probably will.
There are two things that most horror fans will be most interested when it comes to The Black Dahlia - the film itself, and the real story behind the murder that the film is based on.
