Candy Stripers (DVD)
Imagine a slime-covered gore-hole that was once a man's fully-intact crotch. Actually, if you watch Candy Stripers on DVD, you won't have to imagine it: This sex-n-gore cheapie is chock full of sights just like that, and then some!
You see, something unusual is going on at the local hospital. The caretakers, known as candy stripers (due to the resemblance of the volunteers' red and white striped uniform to a candy cane), have suddenly become strange creatures of even stranger appetites: When they're not seducing and dis… er, dis-membering randy male doctors, orderlies, patients, etc., the buxom babes are eating all the sugar they can get their greedy hands on. This feed the alien fetuses they will soon be birthing via vomit.
When a high school sports star, Matt (Brian Lloyd), gets injured and finds himself in the hospital laid up and perhaps soon to be getting laid, he pauses to question the motives of the insatiable candy stripers (your basic blonde, brunet and a minority – each portrayed by a nude-model totally devoid of acting ability). When Matt's also-injured teammate, his conceited girlfriend, and his friend's diabetic little sister all set out to solve the mystery and stop the insanity before every single soul in the vicinity is seduced, killed and consumed by the alien beings.
Although Candy Stripers doesn't offer much new in the genre – we've seen this story so many times, it's practically an epidemic –it is interesting to note that the flick has a female writer/director at the helm. Kate Robbins manages to keep the action moving right along and while you may never be surprised while watching Candy Stripers, you probably will not be bored, either.
