no hyperviolence in Oldboy .. but it's gritty and nuts in it's own way clearly a Korean VS Japanese sensibility (more subdued but still compelling) |

Return of the Living Dead 4: Necropolis
Good cheesy fun. Is it as good as the other RotLD movies? Absolutely not. Is it worth a view? Probably a few. I'll be watching it again someday. Let's not really bicker and argue about acting/plot/FX blah blah. I want to get to the real importance of this movie; the reason why I decided to review it in the first place. The trailer for The Nun. Holy shit! I don't think I've ever wanted to see a movie so bad in all of my life! Has anybody seen The Nun? From the trailer alone, I have deduced that this has to be the greatest piece of cinema ever. Final score: 15/10 (5 points for the movie, +10 for The Nun trailer)

i think it is a bit. i've seen it, and while i think it's a good movie, in no way do i think it's the "chef d'oeuvre" that everyone claims it to be.

Last night I was really tired and somewhat sick. Today, I feel like giving Oldboy a proper review...if anyone cares. Oldboy A man is kidnapped and locked away, without any idea why or for how long. 15 years later he is released, and vows to find his captors have his revenge. Sounds like a pretty basic plot, right? You couldnt be more wrong. I was really surprised by Oldboy. I'd read plenty of reviews calling it a masterpiece, an instant classic, the "best movie ever", ect., but I never imagined that I really would be this good. The actors are great, especially Min-sik Choi as the main character. There really isnt much else to say about the film. One of the best movies Ive seen in a very long time. (I find myself saying that incresingly often lately...) 9.5/10

hey if people like it, they like it ! the word 'overrated ' is losing its significance for me .. i didnt think it was the best movie i ever saw - but it was better than a hell of a lot. it had weaknesses but it also left you with strong images that stick in your mind (the hammer fight sequence for one) if a shitpile of people really personally liked it ... how does that translate to overrated ? bad word, bad bad word .. |
