My 2-year-old has learned a new trick. She sneaks up behind me, and in a very low, whispering voice, says "KHI-KHI-KHI...MA-MA-MA!!"

Made me jump more than once.

Serves me right for watching the F13 marathon with her a couple months back I guess. Not to mention the super-stern gazes I keep getting from the wife every time my kid does this.

She doesn't like horror films. She shirks from any sort of onscreen violence. She loves animals and babies, besides cartoons. She absolutely adores cats and pups!

She doesn't watch whole movies. Her attention span is 5 minutes at most. As soon as the opening shots of the producing studio, opening credits and a few minutes roll through, she slides off my lap and runs to do something else. Stuff playing inside the films catches her fancy - like that F13 tune, Neverending Story's Falkor, musicals, Wall-E's beep-beep, Hindi film gestures, etc.

i still won't let my 13 year old watch slashers.

I let him watch supernatural and monster movies because they are fantasy.
Much harder to explain the movies that just show 'cool kills' over and over again ..

when he was a baby he didn't pay any attention - had no comprehension of what was going on on tv .. but the time he was close to 2 he was responding to scary images and music so i wouldn't play them until he was asleep..

it's too much of a gamble - you have no idea what and how certain images will affect a kid long term ..
i'd rather err on the side of caution ..
