Pretty predictable year...the only real surprise was Waltz with Bashir not winning in Best Foreign Language Film. I wasn't really expecting Penn to take Best actor, but it wasn't really a huge shocker - it is Sean Penn, after all. I can't really weigh in on whether or not he deserved it over Rourke - haven't had the chance to see Milk or The Wrestler - but I can say that it must have been one Hell of a performance: Jenkins and Langella were both incredible, and even though it was pretty overrated, it's hard to deny that Pitt was very good in Benjamin Button. Best Actor was a great race this year, for sure.

But I have to say my favourite moment of the night was Philippe Petit accepting the award for Man on Wire. Great speech, and balancing the Oscar on his chin was priceless :D .

another thing that disappointed me about this years Oscars is that Springsteen's brilliant song he did for the wrestler didn't get a nomination, whilst that garbage song from Slumdog won.
There's been lots of hype going around in the states with people declaring 2009 and The Wrestler as Mickey Rourke's comeback and "The Ressurection of Mickey Rourke."

See What the Critics Are Saying! :

Roger Ebert
"The performance of a lifetime... Mickey Rourke may win the Oscar. One of the year's best films."

Entertainment Weekly
"Darren Aronofsky's WRESTLER is the best movie of the year. Fierce, tender, gripping and altogether remarkable."

Newsweek
"Witness the resurrection of Mickey Rourke in Darren Aronofsky's deeply affecting film."

Rolling Stone
"You watch THE WRESTLER in a state of pure exhilaration. Marisa Tomei is flat-out fabulous."

New York Magazine
"A career capper for Rourke, and it's virtually impossible to imagine anyone else playing the part."

Variety
"A galvanizing, humorous, deeply moving portrait that takes its place among the great, iconic screen performances"

Like I said, I haven't seen it yet---I'm not sure if this hype is going to be a turn-off for me to check it out, or motivation.

That was pretty cool. I loved Hugh Jackman's opening...I would've liked the performance dedication to musicals but Zac Efron just had to drop his top hat at the end:cool: ....boo. :o
