Hey, sorry to interrupt, but I don't wanna use a whole thread...since movies are getting discussed on and off in here anyways - Has anyone here seen the 80's animated film
"Grave of the Fireflies"?
I've heard it's a realistic wartime story about children...other than that, I don't know much, should I see this film?
Any info would be appreciated.

- B.
its done by the same studio (studio ghibli) as princess mononoke, etc .. but a different director.
I have the film but considering the content (very sad and moving) I have to be in the right frame of mind to watch it.
(i was the same with shindlers list)

i've never heard anything but the highest praise for it.

- whoa...It's like that??
I'll probably have to check that out just out of interest, and anything from the same company as princess mononoke would have to be pretty well done right?
I'll have a look, let you know what I thought.

The very interesting and rather forgotten thriller "Kansas City Confidential"

Leone's most underrated film, the excellent "A Fistful of Dynamite"

I've never got round to seeing ...Dynamite, missing every TV showing over the years.

Can it hold a candle to the Dollars trilogy?

I think so yes (it's better than "Fistful", which i always found as dull as "Yojimbo" for much of it's running time and it's much better than the bloated and stodgy "Once Upon a Time in America").

It's far rougher and has a larger scale (even larger than "Good, Bad", with thousands of extras) and is a much darker film.
Good performances by Steiger and Coburn though Steiger's Mexican accent can be a bit much at times.

Wonderfully eccentric Morricone score as well.

Horror fans will notice a young David Warbeck in the IRA flashbacks.
And there is another plus, it never takes Coburn's side (or gives any real view on his 'cause') about his IRA past.
As he is one of the 'hero's it's slighty synpathetic, but is a million miles away from such American, pro-IRA terroriist GARBAGE like "The Jackel".
If it never bothered me (who has no time for IRA scum) then it won't bother anyone.

And any fan of Leone will find tons of sweaty close-ups, grime, violence, personal sacrifice and black humour to enjoy.
