I agree, and to that extent they've succeeded but the problem is that I was really looking forward to a splatterfest. But it's like any other show... with added zombies. I wanted more action and blood and guts, not friggin character development and human bonding.

Well, there's whatever Romero is churning out these days for those who aren't interested in good storytelling.

TWD comic, has been going for nearly 7 years now...these days, that's one hell of a run...the reason it has managed to go for so long, and stay relatively "fresh" is that it has broken the mould in such a way - It's not just about "surviving zombies" and being attacked, it's about characters brought together to survive in a world that has been overrun by a zombie plague, with not only zombies but their own conflicts to deal with among themselves, and *invisible spoiler*
...eventually others they encounter...
It's about what it would be like...not everyone's automatically a bad-ass zombie killing machine, and some that usually aren't, turn out to be...you see people grow, and change throughout the series so, in my opinion I'll have to disagree with you S.baby/Anthro - There isn't LESS to this than most zombie movies, there's more.

Keep watching, you WILL see zombie attacks, huge hordes of the undead, much blood and gore for many reasons...you will see people go through some truly crazy shit and many unexpected situations, and terrible things worse than being eaten alive, the cast will change, grow, and shrink for many reasons.
This is a series of quality...and simply would not last, if it stuck to the "lets have zombies kill people all the time", it just would not work...

I hope Darabont gets ol' William Sadler to play Hershel Greene.

To me, one of the most shocking, and effective moments in the whole series was in the first episode, of the zomble with no legs left, pulling itself along by its arms. That one image spoke so much.

At least with Romero you know what you get. I'm not saying that this is a bad show, only that I was disappointed in it because I was expecting it to be something else.

I saw the final episode a couple of days ago, pleased with the way they ended it without having some big cliffhanger. The great thing about this is they've taken some time for character development and I can only see it getting stronger.

Bring on season 2

i loved it - really great job (for TV). i think season 2 will need to raise the bar especially in terms of a compelling plot trajectory and some deeper core character development - but as a first season 'set the tone' this one was perfect

The walking dead is awesome show by AMC. I had seen all the 6 episodes of season 1 and didn't like the way it ends up. I was not expecting lori to died in last episode. But the good news is that show has been renewed for new season as well.
