I am a die hard, Halloween fan. Zombies movies are filled with no more than simple profanity and nudity. It takes away from the entire "Halloween" experience.

Yes, the original (1978) was slower. Yes, the new generation audiences, may find it boring. But for someone to be a true fan to the horror genre, you have to want more than nudity and swear words. Not to mention, you kind of feel sorry for Michael in the remake which takes away a lot of the impact.

I did think it was an O.K. film, but a far as being an actual remake, it sucked. Though through optional opinions, you can make of the movie what you wish. I prefer to take it as a random slasher movie, rather than a remake of my favorite movie ever.

Rob Zombie could do better.

vampire i think your right i dont think it beats halloween but lets face it is a gem in an underperforming genre i still think the remake beats no 3 , no 4 , no 5 , no 6 , h20 etc and the fact its stil alive and wellis testament to being the best horror franchise around . But i dont know about you but movies of the late 70s early 80s look and feel different i think the filming techniques makes it look sinsiter to begin with and the modern filming and budget i think although it looked good detered from the orginal feel of the movie.

The Halloween series lost something after they released the third one. Although, I didn't think the third one was that bad (Minus a point for that terrible song!). It was trying to take a different turn from the Halloween series. Kind of like the Final Fantasy video game series does. It just didn't work out because everyone wanted Michael. I personally think they would have done better, had they continued in that direction. And yes, as a slasher film, it beats out the rest of the series with the exception of the second one.

The slasher films of the 70's and 80's were much darker than todays slasher films such as Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Etc.. Although the films I just mentioned were not as terrible as everyone seems to make them out to be. Scream was a gory movie. It was just as much up there with the Friday The 13th franchise as anything, with the exception that it came out a few years later, and the killer wasn't immortal. All of the 'teen' slashers didn't start with Scream. They started back with movies such as, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and our current topic, Halloween. No one looks at it that way though.

As far as The Prowler, I own this movie, but have not yet watched it. I will try to do so in the next couple of nights so I can state my opinion.

cool vampire plz do , i spent alot of my life when i was at school watching horror movies and liked them . But i dont know about you but VHS seems to make the movie that little more sinister maybe its just me but dvd is to polished for 70s and 80s titles

I watch 1-2 movies a night after work. I also keep track online of what I have and haven't watched.

And yes, VHS makes any horror movie really, actually more creepy. DVD is too clear.

The Prowler is pretty cool, I like Sleepaway Camp and My Bloody Valentine. Nothing can top Halloween in my book.

Hatchet & Behind the Mask:the Rise of Leslie Vernon are admirable additions the the genre that are well written and really fun:D
