Watched the first three episodes of Alcatraz. Not to bad so far and I can see it's potential. I'd like to see it do more of a equal crossover of the genres. At the moment it's more of a standard cop show and I'd like to see more time given to the prison/mystery aspects. Still early days with it and it'll be interesting to see where it goes.

Saw an ad on ABC for another in a seemingly endless run of spooky/supernatural series called The River. Anyone know anything about it? I sorta looked worth checking out.

I only know what I've seen advertised on TV. I plan on checking it out when it premieres.

An odd thing, I got into Breaking Bad and Dexter for the first few seasons and then totally lost interest. Season 4 of True Blood and season 3 of Sons of Anarchy may be my turning points with those 2 series as well. Hell, I got bored with Deadwood by season 3 but I think thats only because I'd get no closure.

The first episode of "Spartacus - Vengeance".
Now, I don't say any of this on account of not liking the "new guy" even though I don't feel that he has the presence Andy Whitfield did.
I didn't really like it.
I loved Blood and Sand, and Gods of the Arena.
This one, something's just happened - the overall quality feels poor, and even actors who have featured previously don't seem to be falling at all back into their old roles, it's as though they have new folks playing them too.
The storyline is "ok" though I have to say I'm not half as taken as I was with the original series or it's prequel.
...I will continue watching in hopes for a rise in quality...

Grim stuff but very good. One of the best shows I've seen hands down. The last episode was really intense and left me quite shaken up. Carries on from the movie nicely and is just as good. Great piece of television. Following it up now with This Is England '88.

I had no idea these even existed! I found them on youtube and was blown away by how excellent an extension of the movie this is. Thanks for the heads up, Elvis!
