It really catches more shit than it should, its a good, fun film, some good laughs and some pretty bloody scenes. I liked it a lot.

you simply must watch: THOR VS. SATAN - i could only find a bit of it on youtube (though i saw the whole thing because a friend was into the band THOR - well until he saw this movie - then he wasn't).

So yes, November 1 comes yet again. And its the time I start my monthly movies extravaganza. This year I have decided to get myself totally entertained. No heavy-duty stuff, no Jodorowsky or Aronofsky kinda flicks, just pure, sheer, cheesy entertainment.

I have lined up a bunch of creature flicks to tee off.
  • Jurassic Park I, II, III
    The Jaws flicks
    Lake Placid
    Tremors flicks
    Eight Legged Freaks
    Them
    Tarantula
    Earth vs The Spider
    Anaconda
    Snakes on a Plane
    Godzilla (both Jap and US)
    Crocodile
    Alligator and Alligator II
    Frankenfish
    Kaw
    Arachnophobia
    The Relic
    Ice Spiders
    Primeval

I ll pick some more later.

It will be like 3-4 movies every evening, through into the night. And I need more recommendations!

Remember, it should be fun, mindless entertainment. Cheesy is good, I would love cheese. But no thinking or critical analysis stuff ok?

Movies which would rate around 7, 6 even 5 - are all good. Heck throw in some 4s too, just as long as they arent TOO bad.

I know Jenna and Rayne would have a rollickingly good time recommending stuff to me in this thread. :)

Try -

They Nest - A TV movie about man eating cockroaches.
and
Boa vs Python - Two big snakes.

Both are pretty cheesy but just about entertaining.

Your friends are right. It tries way to hard to be a "b-flick" and its influences are just too obvious (verging on plagiarism).

It just lacks the subtlety and class of Body Melt or the early Jackson flicks.

Not horror, and a lot of people really hate it, but you HAVE to check out the 1994 Street Fighter movie if you haven't seen it.

I'm not crazy about Van Damme, but he fits this one perfectly. Just over-the-top, mindless cartoony action - it'll never be mistaken for high art, but it's one of the most fun movies out there. Raul Julia makes a great villain, too.
