Fluffho, I wanted to address your concerns of hostility. I think that women are concerned when their sisters are only concerned with looks. If I'm going to like you, I want to like you for what's on the inside. It's more important to me if you're a kind and considerate person rather than a total hotty. I know it's not important what I think, but you may find that it becomes increasingly important what other women think if you start finding yourself friendless and alone.
I know I'm not a man, but for all women (and guys as well) it's important to have friends that back you up, especially sisters. We're the ones that will hold you and relate to your sorrow, laugh (okay, it's horrible, but even at other people) with you while relating in a gender way. Guy friends are cool, but girl friends can be closer. So what if one of the coolest chicks you meet isn't attractive? True beauty comes from the heart, and if you'll look then your heart. If you don't find a life mate, don't worry. You can be a strong independant woman standing on your own two feet with a flock of friends, knowing in your own heart that you love and are loved. Yes, I've oggled what I have thought were attractive men, but my idea of attractive changes with each lover that I've known. "The ocean is full of possibilities." Look inside, deep inside and find the woman that you truly are. If you don't like her, change her for the better.
