I did agree with quite a few you had, but things like:
Dawn Of The Dead. The original is an A+ for me, the remake is a C+.
Freddy’s Revenge is the best in the series other than the original for me, that’s an A.
All the Friday the 13th sequels are A’s & B’s except for maybe 5 being a C.
Halloween 4,5 are both A’s for me. Part 6 is a B.

The Ring took me 3 nights to watch because I fell asleep everytime I tried to watch it. It’s like a D+ for me.
Blairwitch Project would get a D for Dog Crap from me.
Everything Rob Zombie has done would get a C with the exception of the 1st Halloween remake would get a B-.

For me you’ve judged all the “classic” and “cult” movies too hard. Like Killer Klowns From Outer Space or They Live or House 2 or Return Of The Living Dead. Classic Cult Cinema and all 4 would get a A- or B+ from me.

I like most all horror movies and there’s really very few that I absolutely dislike. I wouldn’t give anything you have listed an “F”. Even Mega Piranha. I like SyFy Channel movies because you take them with a grain of salt. They’re funny and stupid and not meant to be cinematic genius.

Everyone will have different opinions of course but that’s how I see things. It’s ok to disagree with me too. I don’t get offended. Unlike a lot of people I’ve known, I don’t have the mentality of your wrong and I’m right. I understand we all have different viewpoints and that’s ok.
thanks!!awesome. give me some time and ill respond. =) thanks again

You have all these as B’s and for me they are all A’s.

Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein – B- yea, i rewatched it and you are right, should be an A
Beetlejuice – B - i wasnt that astatic about it.. had its moments.still good just not amoung the great to me.
Candyman – B - i thought that this movie was good but needed work. great for 90s but dating now
Hellraiser – B - very original, just never got into the series especially with this being the strongest film
Friday the 13th*part 2 - B - good, but unorginal. and still not an icon.. yet
Friday the 13th part*3: 3-D - B- - embraced the concept and grabed the icon however still not up to par with alien..
Fright night (original) – B - i can see maybe a b+ its very entertaining, but not an A to me
Howling *- B - really not much of a fan..
Monster squad – B - classic, i can see a B+
Night of the living dead 2: Dawn of the dead (original) - B+ - thought b+ was generous
Re-animator - B- - can see A-
Thing (remake *1982)*- B+ - can see A
Tremors (x2) - B - can see a b+

You have all these as A’s and for me they are all lower, some WAY lower.

Amityvillle horror (remake) - A- only reason it didnt get higher was i thought the lead should have been a dif actor
Blairwitch project – A - very intense to me.. super scary..
Butterfly effect – A - a very disturbing film if you think about it
Halloween (remake) - A+ - obsessed.. if i could have redone hallowee, being my fav in the series, he copyed it. watching this one film alone allows you to litterally skip all the othes. this movie tells you everything, you can grasp the depth of him without having to watch all the others.. big fan
Halloween (remake directors cut) – A - lowered due to the rape scene
House of a 1000 corpse - A - first really good horor film to me that brought back the texas chainsaw fee.
House of a 1000s corpse 2 : Devils rejects - A- - what a sequel.. totally different kind of film.. loved it
Mist – A - the ending was terrific, great story about the power of desperate people.. wow
Night of the living dead 2 : Dawn of the dead (remake) - A- - first to take the running zombie into the night of the living series. great remake, very intense mad props to the opening scene. inspired by 28 days later but took the next step.
Nightmare on elm street 7: Wes cravens new nightmare (x2) - A- brought the scare back
Paranormal activity - A + - scariest film i ever seen. i left scared. that never happens. once a life time film..
Paranormal activity 2 - A- - had to give it to em. although the scares were not expected and you can see the increase in m0ney in this film but lets face it you need that to keep the story going... anyways i was pleasantly surprised as to how good this movie was..good acting, kept me entertained and the story was strong.
Ring - A - i thought this movie was very impressive. went up and beyond the original. watched them today actually..plus it kept a pg 13 rating.. hard to do. mad props.

These would all be WAY higher for me.

Child's play 3 - C- - to funny to be scary, not original enough to be cool, and really not that funny, felt made for tv
Critters 3 - C - it was a decent one in the series.
Critters 4 - D- - awful.. yuck..
Descent (x2)- C - everybody raved about this film and ive seen it twice now and was disappointed.. not scary to me or interesting.
Exorcist 3 - C- - re watched and you are correct. deserves a high b or low a
Friday the 13th (remake) : killer cut - D+ - lame...
Friday the 13th part 4: final chapter - C+- just another brick in the wall
Friday the 13th part 5: a new beginning - F - not even jason
Friday the 13th*part 6 : Jason lives - D - and another brick
Friday the 13th*part 7 : new blood - D - and another..
Friday the 13th*part 8: Jason takes manhattan - C+ - rather enjoyed.i think they marketed it well and embraced the icon again
Friday the 13th part 9: Jason goes to hell - D+ - tried to be series and orginal, but turned out to be wierd.
Friday the 13th part 10: Jason x (space) – D - hard to watch..
Halloween 4: return of Michael Myers - C - another brick to me
Halloween 5: revenge of Michael Myers - D+ - worst in the series i felt
Halloween 6: curse of Michael Myers - C – - not much better than 5, didnt like the cult thing
Hills have eyes (remake) – C - intense but not my kinda killers
House 2: second story - C+- enjoyed but wanted less adventure more haunted house. and a bit too silly
Fun house – D - boring and too under budgeted
House of wax (remake) - D- - very very hard to watch..
Its alive - D - difficult to watch
It's alive 2: it lives again – F - could barely finish it...
Jeepers creepers 2 - C- - kinda a cash crop
Jaws 2 - C -lost its feel..
Jaws 3- D- - one of the worst films ever.. the 3 d is so bad..
Killer klowns from outer space - C- - can see it being bumped up higher
King king vs Godzilla - D+ - really bad. rewatch it..
Night of the demons (original) – C - thought the remake was better quick frankly
Night of the living dead 3: Day of the dead (remake) - C- - eh..
Night of the living dead 4: Land of the dead - C- - dont like the smart zombies..
Night of the living dead 5: Diary of the dead - C- -not that great..
Night of the living dead 6: Survival of the dead -D - definitly lost its touch
Night of the living dead: Return of the living dead - C - its okay. spawned alot, ill rewatch though for a second thought
Night of the living dead: Return of the living dead 2 - C- - this one was well, will rewatch
Nightmare on elm street 2: Freddy's revenge - D - weak, broke to many rules... haated the pool scene and it was a very.. gay kinda film. nothing wrong with that, just not what i wanted.
Nightmare on elm street 3: dream warriors - B- - thought it was good, better than the others. maybe needs a bit a of a better score
Nightmare on elm street 4: dream master - C - ehh.. kinda a rip off of 3
Nightmare on elm street 5: dream child - D+ - bogus. weakest in the series
Poltergeist 2 – C - not scary. lost through a weak story line..
Predator 2 – C - not the same affect on me as the first. didnt like the characters
Prom night (original x2) - C+ - totally boring i thought. and unscary, just because jamie lee was in it doesnt make it good to me
Rosemary's baby –C - thought it was dated.. hard for me to recapture the fear of 1969
Silence of the lambs 2: Hannibal – C - thought it was okay, maybe a tad better score tho
They live - C+ -i liked it..maybe a B-
Urban legend*- C- - rewatched it and i thought c- was nice
Wolfman (remake) – C - could have been so much more
Wrong turn (x2) - C- - not a fan.. didnt do me justice

Not horror but I would reverse the rating on these as well
Dumb and Dumber - A - what??? epic film
Enter the dragon - C+ - good movie, just not great

I see why we disagree so much. You judge movies based on what they "aren't" instead of what they "are".

This movie "isn't scary" as something else I've seen
This movie "isn't as good" as something else I've seen
This movie "isn't modern" and is dated
This movie "isn't made with a good budget" so it looks cheap and therefore isn't as good as something else.

I judge based on what it "is"

Take "Mega Piranha"

I watch Mega Piranha and I know it's made by SyFy Channel
I know it's made for usually 1 million dollars or less
I know it's meant be ridiculous
I know the effects are cheap
I know the acting is bad and sometimes the plot has more holes than a screen door, because that's exactly what it's supposed to be. It's not supposed to be compared to something like Alien...

So I judge it based on what it is. It's a SyFy Channel movie and as far as SyFy Channel movies go, it's not bad. Worth a B- in my book.

If I rated movies based on what they weren't...95% of the movies on your list would be a D or an F.

I can't compare It's Alive to Casablanca or Citizen Kane or M or Gone With The Wind. True classic films that changed cinema forever. It's apples and oranges.

If a movie is a Lemon I judge it based on the fact that it's a Lemon.

I'd like you to watch a movie you haven't seen in a long time that you remember being bad and re-watch it with a clean slate. Don't compare it to anything else. Just enjoy it for what it is.

Take your response to House 2 "enjoyed but wanted less adventure more haunted house. and a bit too silly"

"Don't" want it to be a haunted house story..."Don't" want it to be less silly. Instead, simply enjoy it for what it is. It's supposed to be silly and low budge. It was the 1980's. It wasn't supposed to be scary like The Amityville Horror or something. I think you'd enjoy a lot more movies if you were a little less critical.

You said you couldn't make it through "It's Alive". Watch it all the way through. Know that it's a cult 70's film. Know that it's ridiculous. Laugh at how ridiculous it is. Laugh at the FX. If you watch it like you're watching The Exorcist you missed the whole point of the movie.

That's my thoughts for what it's worth...

Thanks

Ill try that. I do judge harsh, but I judge like I do sports players. They all can be close to MJ. A+s are rare and far. I take pride in those. That's why some movies that got a c should be happy. I expect a quality film even if it's syfi movies made for under a million. Again I'm not saying I don't enjoy them but show it to any critic and they would tear it up..I like bad horror films becuz I like em all but that doesnt make them good. N paranormal activity was made very cheap but to me holds it's own to exorcist. Just my opinion. So to me, films that get a or b, well should be greatfil cuz those are difficult to get.

Critics are critics because they can't be anything else...and if you enjoy something that is what makes it "good".

You're in for a life of disappointments I fear...

The more expectations you have, the more disappointments you'll receive.

If you expect your favorite sports person or team to win every game you're going to be disappointed.

If you walk into every movie expecting it to be, as you say "a quality film", you're going to be disappointed more times than not.

If you had a wife who everyday had dinner ready for you when you got home, and then one day she didn't, you'd more than likely go "wtf, where's my dinner?" You might not say it, but you'd think it. How would you like those expectations put on you? Would you rather have her make the dinner because she wants to do it, or because you expect her too?

I don't put expectations on anything or anyone, I'd rather have them be what they are.

You look at "It's Alive" and see a 3 year old scribblings...I look at "It's Alive" and see a Picasso. It doesn't have to be a landscape painting or a portrait of to be good and shouldn't be judged as such. It should be judge on what it is, what it represents, how it made you feel and nobody else.

To each his own

Im very optimistic, I'm just harsh. But I actually go into to most films thinking they will probably suck and then some surprise me. How do you know so much about me to say that you know I treat life like I grade movies? That's taking thins convo to another level. Keep it on films man.
