Robert Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios is working fast as they plan on shooting Predators, their reboot of Predator on September 28th in Austin, Texas, where they are currently lensing Machete.
Being helmed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy), they are currently seeking a "Black", "Asian", "Russian" and "Latino" marine "to fill those boots". According to Rodriguez, "We got to have some flavor in this "prequel"". In this version, a group of humans will find themselves stranded on a planet home to Predators and must survive the horrors they encounter. James Cameron pulled a similar move with his advancement of the "Alien" franchise in "Aliens."

The words "reboot" or "reimagining," especially in the case of classic, much-beloved franchises, can often send fans in a panicked spiral of wondering just how their favorite characters might be changed or altered. Certainly, this was the case with Robert Rodriguez and his currently-in-production reboot, Predators.
Well, if you were concerned that the look of the iconic extraterrestrial hunter would be significantly changed, you can breathe easy. MovieHole sat down with KNB's Howard Berger, head of the shop in charge of the film's FX, to discuss the look of the film thus far. "We wanted to have the Predator look as it did in the original film. We went back and looked at the original. I actually worked in the shop with Stan Winston on the first film. It was great to be able to go back to the series having not been involved in any of the sequels, and it was also great to be able to make sure we built them as Stan Winston did," said Berger. "They look really fantastic. There's a whole bunch of cool [Predator's] in the film, and everyone's going to be very happy that we've been very faithful to the Stan Winston designs. It's out next year. It's shooting very soon.'' http://www.moviehole.net/200920845-e...r-on-predators

Danny Trejo has been telling attendees of the HorrorFind Weekend that he's set to star in Nimrod Antal's Predator re-imagining, Predators, which is being produced by Robert Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios for 20th Century Fox.
No word on what his role will be just yet. In this version, a group of humans will find themselves stranded on a planet home to Predators and must survive the horrors they encounter. James Cameron pulled a similar move with his advancement of the "Alien" franchise in his "Aliens." Fox hopes to get this in theaters by July 9, 2010.

My biggest problem with both AVP movies was that they made the Alien(s) act like retards when Xenomorphs are clearly depicted as extremely intelligent creatures, arguably more intelligent than Predator.

Walton Goggins, the intense star of the FX series "The Shield," has been cast alongside Danny Trejo in 20th Century Fox's Predators, their reboot of the Predator franchise that is said to be more of a sequel (that takes place on the Predator's home planet) than an actual remake, reports Comingsoon.
Nimrod Antal (Vacancy) is directing the film that Fox plans on having in theaters by July 9, 2010. Robert Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios is producing.

Well nobody saw this coming.
The star of Nimrod Antal's Predators is not a Rock or a Vin or an undiscovered new Arnie. It's the willowy Adrien Brody! Brody has won the role of the main alien killer in the Robert Rodriguez produced reboot of "Predators." Variety reports Brody will play a heroic mercenary who takes on the alien hunters. We have, of course, seen Brody hacking through the jungle before, as Jack Driscoll in Peter Jackson's King Kong. But he's still best known for dramatic roles in films like Polanski's The Pianist, or quirky indie fare like Hollywoodland and The Darjeeling Ltd. He's clearly looking to add some more mainstream strings to his bow however, since Brody and his agents apparently lobbied hard to get the role of "a heroic mercenary who battles to keep his team alive when its members are hunted by the aliens". Perhaps Brody sees a steady check in what Fox hopes is a new franchise? Maybe he's been a fan of the original series or just wanted to work with Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal? It's unclear at this point. That team also includes Danny Trejo, Alice Braga (I Am Legend), Walton Goggins (Detective Vendrell from The Shield), Ultimate Fighter Oleg Taktarov, and Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, who was Tizzy in Benjamin Button. Brody has also signed up for sequels. He isn't the first surprise leading man of the Predator franchise: we probably wouldn't have predicted Danny Glover back in 1990 either. Unconventional action heroes have become almost a staple of the last decade with Tobey Maguire, Johnny Depp and Robert Downey, Jr. all making the jump. Can Brody duplicate their success? Moviegoers will be able to decide for themselves when 20th Century Fox opens "Predators" nationwide on July, 9, 2010. Shooting will take place in Hawaii and Texas, and starts shortly.

It has now been confirmed that Derek Mears - who played Jason Voorhees in the 'Friday the 13th' reboot - will also be taking on a role in Robert Rodriguez's much-beloved "Predators".
Rival trade The Hollywood Reporter adds that Topher Grace is also negotiating to join the project. He'd play an expected "accountant-type" who deep down is a serial killer. Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose canon of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent. Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back. They are all joined by Adrien Brody, the leader of the group, as announced earlier.
