i hated watching sports as a kid ... years later i started watching hockey and baseball .. now i cant even be bothered to do that.

i'd much rather play sports than watch them .. which is what i do.

2 exceptions .. ladies tennis and ladies figureskating.
i spend no time watching either - but i sure as hell understand the attraction.

I hate watching sports also, and i DESPISE sports video games. I like playing sports in real life, however, especially full contact. i love hurting other people, especially if they are bigger than me. I played tackle football with no equipment when i was in high school (against friends) and LOVED it. i always charged the biggest guy and did my best to knock him on his ass.

Oh, and I believe people with no sense of humor are evolutionary dead-ends.

we did that as kids too ..
when i was a little guy - i was the only one crazy enough to try to tackle Billy S.
this guy was built like a large adult - he was older and bigger than the rest of us and walked around in bare feet because he worshipped Billy Jack.

he tackled one of the guys by pushing/throwing him once .. the guy flew through the air and landed badly breaking his collar bone.

after that i tackled him once around the ankles ... he kicked me in the face as he fell but he twisted funny and crashed through a picket fence ...

got hurt too :D

I'd rather play as well but sometimes you can't and you sure as hell can't play like most of the people you watch. Unless you jump over another full grown man, spin around, and dunk a basketball or throw an 80 yard touchdown pass to a guy who is covered by two outstanding atheletes then you're not on their level. They dedicate their lives to performing, they're gladiators, we pay them to entertain us just like actors.

I had someone say this to me once and it forever chnage dhow i look at pro athletes. I generally think of them as overpaid high school students, but i had never considered the fact that they are entertainers, just different from musicians or actors.

yeah .. i always wrestle with the actor vs pro sports arguement ..

still - with sports - you're sitting and watching people do things you like to do .. playing is still more fun BECAUSE we arent all at a pro level .. you get to develop and your team along with you ..

i can appreciate the pros are good atheletes .. but they are also people who train, play under the best conditions , etc .. its 'too good'

Its funny... people ,make big deals about pro athletes being able to kcik field goals, hit home runs, and shoot 3 pointers...

I say, big deal. I can DO my job too...

And for the salaries someof these guys pull, they should be able to ressurect the dead and give back virginities.
