I find most horror based tv shows, this one included, to be tailor made for people who don't watch horror. Nothing close to horror. It's a soap opera where powerless zombies occasionally show up and cause minor inconvenience.

I have to agree. The Walking Dead is a good show due to acting, sets/locations, and story. The walking dead could be gangs of violent people or dangerous walking mushrooms. I wonder how easy it would be, though, to sustain dread and uneasiness with each episode. The Killing sort of did, but it wasn't horror.
American Horror Story is just bad and not horror. True Blood isn't horror most of the time, just a drama tv show except taking various aspects to more and more extremes. The first season small, the last much much bigger. A couple of X-files episodes were horror, but not part of a consistent story. Friday the 13th the Series was often horror, but no consistent story. So it was just like having a different horror short each week. Penny Dreadful is an amazing show, but there's no dread to it.
Though there was that one british show about people being turn to stone I think? And if you touched the stone you'd get a shock of who the person was. That was fairly creepy.

As an avid horror fan, it takes a lot to scare me or make me feel uncomfortable. TWD doesn't get to me but that doesn't mean a lot. The gore is usually pretty sweet for television though. I will say I wish the show was more like the comics but I could never see them letting Carl lose an eye without some group of assholes having an issue with it and claiming child abuse.

I like it. There are just enough characters that I like to keep me glued (Michonne, Daryl, Glen, Maggie and god help me Rick)

I like that I get several episodes-worth of good old fashioned zombie horror every year. It's like Lootcrate for Romero fans. I think people that bitch about it but claim to like zombie movies overlook the low points of actual zombie movies. A lot of the acting/characters/plots of zombie fiction are dogshit. Most even.

But TWD tries to keep it fresh, which in itself is admirable. It's the show I've wanted since I got into zombie horror in 1995

Unless the audience at some point loses interest I don't how this show will ever end.

It's the same things happening over and over again while the story is pretty much going nowhere. I'm still watching it tho, coz I think it's a good show. Just sayin..

I`m the same Angra,i keep watching but it doesnt have the hold as it once had on me.Gore aside it can get boring and yesterdays first episode was same old same old.But i`ll keep watching because................i love horror.

And although there another thread i will just add that i much prefer Z-Nation.Yes it is quirky and more humorous and a budget difference but i find the whole saga much more interesting to watch that TWD.Murphy in particualr is a dream of a character.I love that guy.

Without spoiling anything for those who missed the season premiere, I hope that INSANE sight we saw in the opening segment is among the last episode or 2 from the season finale and the black and white backstory scenes keeps coming with small scenes here and there from the present and the two meet each other eventually.

!!!SPOILERS BELOW!!!

Highlight to view
Does anything this will be the season where we meet Negan? The creators have already confirmed he is coming and last season we saw Glen with the ball bat and many believe he was at Terminus when the others were. I was thinking he could have been the one sounding that horn.End of spoiler

VERY funny jokes using Walking Dead stills.

They're a bit crude so I won't post any. Check out the link and laugh.
