Round 1: Match 16
The Departed  Scorsese's brilliant remake of the Hong Kong classic Infernal Affairs. IMO his best work since Goodfellas, and superior even to IA. Great ensemble cast, highlighted by Wahlberg's brief but intense performance as Dignam. VS A Clockwork Orange  This one actually makes me kinda sad. McDowell could've had a great career. If...., A Clockwork Orange, but then he was in Caligula. Anyways, Kubrick gives this a weird and unique feel, making it one of those movies that's tough to fit in a particular genre, not unlike Pulp Fiction. Good supporting cast, but the thing that makes the movie is McDowell's scary performance as Alex.
