The Crazies: Good till the end.
Hush Little Baby: Really good till the stupid ending. |

L'avventura (1960). Bustling about without contributing much to the world at large, our players are a superficial bunch looking to satisfy their base desires without regard of others. The beginning seems anything but that which is its main subject, and when the big turn of events occurs, its direction is unimaginably tangential. The direction is sublime, so hauntingly deep as to be almost subliminal in its effects. Shot composition is masterful, with complex scenes that challenges the eyes to a battle to drink it all in. Though slow at times, its purpose never strays. The ending, powerful through its ineluctable denouement, serves as a paradigm example of human nature at the expense of our equivocations of that same nature.

Finding Amanda: EH
Alice In Wonderland: Regret not seeing this in IMAX 3D if you have fearnet on-demand. There's a great episode of Fear Itself (I think that's what it's called) titled COMMUNITY. Really really good and scary. |
