But the sad fact is it seems they don't like/dare to make this kind of films anymore. Really...can anyone tell me when they last made or last time you saw an original haunted house film in the theater?

One of my all-time faves. Glad you liked it quite a bit. And it's true, they don't make them like those anymore.

Last watched - Saw VI, only for curiosity purposes. Sitting down to watch Zombieland again on gorgeous Blu-Ray 1080 hi-def right now.

Evil Dead II: A classic. Every time I watch it though, I have to wonder what it would have been like as a more serious film like the first.

Inception: Wow. The main thing that I really liked about Inception was that even though they could have done practically anything when it came to the special effects, but they didn't. Sure, there is some mind-blowing effects, but it was just enough.

Nope, not at all. It's a crap movie-fest instead. I have seen 3 of them (Fragile, Pig Hunt & The Tomb) quite a while ago before they get selected for this fest. Specially Fragile released at 2005; I don't get the idea how come an almost 5 year old movie chosen besides the new films?! Anyway, now only one left to see: Dark House, which won a competition to get even a theatrical release!

Street Trash (1987)

Gunless (2010)

A decent, light-hearted Western comedy.

I watched this when it came out on video, I don't think I was all that impressed, but I recently read the Terry Bison novel and decided to give it another viewing. It is a slick movie, but the entire time it just feels like something is missing.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). As a remake, this one loosely keeps to the spirit of the original and simultaneously brings some new and fresh fare to the table. Fans of the classic genre might lay claim to the superiority of the original, but those that claim otherwise might have some purchase to the superiority of the 1978 version. With solid acting capturing the wonderful and human idiosyncrasies of our protagonists, they perfectly set the tone for the humanity of which they hope to preserve. The direction was simply perfect, and coupled with unique camera work and that unsettling score, creates an atmosphere that is expansively creepy and oppressive. With fun cameos and a tone that is almost lost in the present, this remake should serve as a paragon for sci-fi and horror alike. Merci beaucoup.

I really enjoyed this. A smart horror comedy.
