Star Trek - Generations
I don't usually like the movies, but always thought this one was pretty decent. Good villain with a good "evil" plot, played by a good actor...I think that's largely what made the film for me. That and, it doesn't really "tie in" to the whole ST universe, you could watch this without any prior knowledge of the series IMO. Oliver and Company Actually the first time I've seen it since watching it at the cinema as a kid...got it on VHS at an op-shop for 50c...pretty fun animated movie with a great musical score and soundtrack, pretty solid voicework all around.

![]() Excellent twisted bittersweet comedy from the genius brain of Chris Morris. Four (pretty clueless) British Muslims try to get their Jihad on. The show is stolen by the the white Islamic convert who has to be more extreme to prove his dedication to the cause.. Excellent stuff,,, |

Strangers on a Train (1951). This Hitchcock thriller is simply one of his best. Working on so many levels, when it is not symbolic it is masterfully artistic, or maybe understated, then again polemic and malevolent. The story examines a fascinating take on murder and builds it into a thrillingly intense carnival ride, literally. There are so many memorable scenes that it is almost exhausting to watch. Robert Waker was absolutely sublime in his nefarious role of the antagonist, a minacious doppelganger of Bill Murray. He is pitted against the perfectly wooden Farley Granger, the perfect patsy, a stranger on a train. The direction was spectacular, a Hitchcockian classic. The camera does not disappoint, with the most grim moment of the flick capturing the action from a wonderfully beautiful POV. The ending, with the ultimate unfurling, was perfect. Merci beaucoup.

Machete (2010)
Now, I still haven't seen The Expendables...but as far as throwback, over-the-top action flicks go, I can't see anything getting much better than this. Amazing cast, crazy action...bat-shit insane from start to finish. I've heard people complain about it being "too talky" in places, but even when the action did slow down I was completely entertained. A lot of people here will really enjoy this movie. I had a fucking blast. The Last Exorcism (2010) Not bad. Was really impressed with the performances (particularly Patrick Fabian in the lead), but the story was kind of all over the place. Had some tense moments and a great ending, but not much else really stands out.
