I've always been interested in Polybius.

Supposedly, it was this arcade game that appeared in 2-3 locations in Oregon during the early 80's. The game itself was something like a psychedelic puzzler kind of thing.

As the story goes, kids got scary addicted to it, and most of the people that played it started experiencing all kinds of night terrors, hallucinations, amnesia, suicide...you name it. Your typical "men in black" would show up daily and collect data from the machines, which led people to believe it was some kind of government experiment.

It's all rumor and speculation, and there is nothing resembling evidence in any way, shape or form...but as far as urban legends and conspiracy theories go, I've always found it cool.

I don't how I feel about conspiracy theories. There's an element of science missing from them. Sure there's some made up shit as to a nonlunar landing, but there's a hell of a lot of strong evidence to support it.

Area 51 and the whole alien thing... I'm just not sure I buy all that, especially now. I'd think we'd all be a little more "in touch" with things by now. I think that said aliens would be a little more open and not so keen on being kept in the dark.

Yeah that sounds cool. Go ahead and explain what you're talking about though. Just because I don't buy into conspiracy theories doesn't mean I'm not intrigued by them.:)

All kidding aside: almost all conspiracy theories are bunk.

It's not that conspiracies don't happen, it's that they can't be kept secret for the same reason most other crimes don't remain secret: people love to talk talk talk. Sure, you might have one loyal G. Gordon Liddy type henchman who can keep his mouth shut. But most of those involved are likely to be mediocre, career-minded bureaucrats and sooner or later one of them squeals.

Real conspiracies are much more mundane than the ones in typical conspiracy theories.

Exactly. I used to believe 9/11 was planned from top to bottom by the government - But I don't think I believe that anymore. I believe it was more intentional ignorance on the govt's part actually. The lack of preparation, the complete unpreparedness and response to something this massive was certainly NO coincidence, at least not in my mind.

I think they knew SOMETHING majorly bad was going to happen, and maybe even knew some of the details. But just chose to do absolutely fuckall about it.

When I first started watching the tragedy as it unfolded that day (before realizing what was happening) - I thought: "Why's everyone freaking out over a demolition of a couple of buildings?" - I was at work, and had no clue about the planes, or the details of it all.

Having said that, I DO believe there absolutely were bombs in the basement of the WTC Towers, thus causing them to collapse very similar to that of buildings that've been demolished professionally. I also think it's very suspect that the owner of the towers just so happened to buy a HUGE insurance policy on both properties several months prior to 9/11 as well. (I'm not sure on the specifics).

Also, I question whether the horrendous events that took place that day, would've happened, had the winner of the 2000 Presidential Election Al Gore, actually would've been the President at that time. If they would've taken place, I question how severe, or on what scale they would've occured with him in office, being far more cogniscent and aware/caring than the piece of shit administration that was in there at the time.

I think overall we may never know what truly happened that day, or why. It's just unfortunate the whole thing had to happen to begin with....

MIBs must have taken in a lot of people with the initials POO and ASS during the 80s.

That's bogus. Ground Kontrol in downtown Portland has a working Polybius and you have to sign a waiver to use it.
