I had never really listened to into the void before, but its essentially Slipping Away from things falling apart :)

Slipping away is one of my "Zoning" songs, it relaxes the hell out of me.

What about her did you find annoying? Her obsession of John Travolta? Making a school in Africa? Directing Zora Neale Hurston's: Their Eyes were watching God? Starring in Alice Walker's The Color Purple? Starring in Beloved? Having "O" magazine? Having her own Book Club? Recently upgrading her status from millionaire to billionaire?

I'm pretty mad at the big Oprah bookclub stickers on books by Faulkner, Tolstoy and Toni Morrison, like she just discovered two Nobel Prize Winners and the author of Anna Karenina. There are idiots out there who give her credit for it, too. I'm so glad Oprah rediscovered ANNA KARENINA...like every literature and writing student in America ought to have. Coopting and absorbing great works of literature and promoting them via YOUR bookclub as if Faulkner needs YOUR approval. Faulkner would have hated a touchie-feelie insincere billionairess acting like she's the first one to read "the Sound and the Fury".

Okay, maybe its not Oprah that bugs me, its all of the people who inject her into my life on a regular basis. (present company excepted ;))

She has mannerisms that make her unwatchable at times, and basically, I'm a guy and most of what she talks about is not on my list of crap that I care about.

Dont get me wrong, I think she is admirable; I'm just not into her.

I wish I had one but I don't. There's nobody I really look up to as an inspiration.

Ok, I understand what you're saying here. But I'm pretty sure her intention isn't to say : "Hey I'm the first to find a Nobel or Pulitizer Prize winning author." She just publicizes her book collection and every year sends out a list of ones she adds to it. Believe or not, but many of her fans wanted to know..for some she's more than an inspiration she's their idol. However of course, it's always up to the BookSale companies whether or not they approve of the Oprah stickers on the Published Books. All don't accept them. However, being that America lives off a capitalist system, I'm pretty sure they "approved" of the sticker because so young people (excluding myself) are that much of an idiot they need a celeb approval to read something--instead of opening their lazy ass minds up to intriguing characters and plot. So the retail stores figured that there are people that will be like : "Oh my God..that's an Oprah Book....It's a must have, Becky." In reality, it's not an Oprah Book, it's a book Oprah loved and wanted to add it to her collection and share with her fans.

I understand and feel you're pain...but I hoped that eased it. :)
