8. What in your opinion is the difference in watching a horror film in a cinema and watching a horror film at home? The food is cheaper at home.

10. How do you find that you react differently to these “real” scenes of violence in comparison to staged violence? Scenes of staged violence give me time to reflect. Scenes of real violence just hit me.

not very often but if the very od time if something catches me by suprise i might rewind and rewatch,

as i stated above and often horror films have a sudden violent scene. I tend no to masterbate to a loop of the beheading scene from Nekromantik 2 anymore.

For the most part you concentration and focus is higher in the cinemna (if u can ignore idiots on cellphones) - that and the sheer physical size of the image and better sounds increases the impact a lot more than home viewing.

Of course. Knowing some thing is real has a much higher emotional impact.

10. How do you find that you react differently to these “real” scenes of violence in comparison to staged violence?

It depends on a number of factors . The term '“real” scenes of violence' is too broad for me to answer the question properly. For example watching a real streetfight does give me a little rush as long as its not too one sided and no one is seriously hurt but to see some one seriously injured does make me feel uncomfortable. But watching carpet bombing warfootage where i know 100s are killed doesn't seem to effect me so much.

Yeah pretty much, it is simply a reserch method piece, I have to look into different aspects of audience culture, and I chose to look at violence and audience reaction, and aim to prove that watching horror won't make you go out and kill people (it just tends to be people that would go out and kill people that go out and kill people)

Horror movies do not create killers, however horror movies can be used to make a killer more creative.

A killer has the potential to kill, outside of any media influence.

SANE people don't watch horror movies and suddenly decide "Hey, that looked cool, I'm gonna try that":rolleyes:

Trust me, I've watched literally thousands of horror movies, from the time I was a kid, and so have my kids and my guy...None of us have killed or hurt anyone yet (well, except for that boy I punched in the stomach in first grade...But, he shouldn't have kissed me!...And there was that little girl named Tracy with the blonde ponytail that I pushed off the swing on the playground that same year, but SHE started it...I HAD watched Dracula in black and white by that time, but I did NOT bite the boy or the girl, nor did I see Dracula punch anyone in the stomach, or push anyone off of a swing)...But, if any of us suddenly get the urge to hurt or kill anyone because of something we watch on the screen, I'll definitely let you know

Can u name a single example of this?

I know the broom handle rape from tenement was 'associated' by the media as proof at the time but i really can't think of one example where a real life murder has replicated a murder from a film.

I think this is just common sense.Look at the copy cat killers,they hear or watch something on tv and go out and copy the same damn thimg.Why do you need an example for everything?
